About Me

The girl behind the lens

My name is Shannon Behm, the creative mind behind Behmtography. As a photographer I strive to witness and capture beauty, which can entail hiking the 10 miles to see the view, waking up early in the morning, or freezing watching the sunrise at -17 degrees. Some of my favorite times are those when I am all alone surrounded by the serenity of nature and taking it all in. I look forward to sharing my passion with you. Not only do I enjoy landscape photography I really feel special being able to capture emotions and moments from families coming together to seniors celebrating their accomplishments. I am thankful for everyone that allows me every opportunity to capture their story.

I grew up in the Wisconsin countryside showing horses for most of my childhood. I have been riding horses since I could walk, showed in 4-H for 13 years and have an amazing mother to thank for introducing me to horses; that shaped who I am today. Currently, I am a laboratory supervisor for a gene therapy drug testing department. I really enjoy leading others and still being connected to science.

When I am not at work I fill my weekends and spare time with exploring and participating in outdoor activities. I enjoy kayaking, hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, camping, road trips, playing fetch with my pup and especially photography. I grew up always seeing photographs in ordinary places throughout my life. I thought this was something everyone experienced. But the reality is beauty is everywhere you just have to see it.
